Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is a national program funded by the Commonwealth Government.

The ACVVS aims to enrich the quality of life of residents of aged care homes who are socially isolated or lonely, and would benefit from a friendly visitor. The ACVVS also helps to establish links between people living in aged care homes and their local community. The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors is a volunteer who is matched with a resident of an aged care home and visits them regularly.

Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme will be able to visit your resident friend at least once a fortnight. Visits should be spent doing something you both enjoy- you might want to read, listen to music, chat and reminisce or watch a favourite TV program together. Sharing your time and your interests with the resident will help them feel better about themselves and enjoy their life more.

Social Support (Commonwealth Home Support Program)

The program aims to maximise the ability of socially isolated older or frail aged Bankstown residents over 65 (including those from CALD backgrounds and other special needs groups), to continue to live independently at home and also assist in meeting their need for social contact.

If eligible, a potential client is assessed by the Social Support Worker and a support program is jointly developed for the client.

Home Care Packages

Chester Hill Neighbourhood Centre is now an active aged care provider for Home Care Packages.

A Home Care Package supports an older person with the day to day care to remain living at home and is designed to meet their specific needs.

Social Lunch

Social Lunch is a group for people to share a meal, make new friends, have some fun together by doing activities such as Bingo, playing card games, dominoes, puzzles etc.

Cost is $10.00 per person and includes – Morning Tea, Lunch (home-style meal) and Dessert.

Social Lunch is on every Wednesday – from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Guide Hall 159 Waldron Road Chester Hill NSW 2162.
